The girls from Ms McElhinney’s sixth class and Ms Quinlan’s fifth class were honoured to meet the famous children’s author Marita Conlon-McKenna on October 12th in Cobh Library.

Both classes had the pleasure of reading Marita’s latest novel Fairy Hill provided to us by Cork County Library.  Many of the girls have also read more of Marita’s novels; Under the Hawthorn Tree, Wildflower Girl and Fields of Home to name a few.

Marita spoke to the group and told them about how her love of writing began and encouraged all of our budding authors to get writing! We were inspired!

Marita also signed books and autographs, giving the girls of St Mary’s great time.
